Support KidsPlay’s 2023 Year End Appeal!
Dear Friends of KidsPlay,
Five-year-old Rhys loves visiting KidsPlay. “The Museum is one of his happy places,” says his mother, Alicia. “It’s a place where he feels confident and safe, which as a parent is really important.” Rhys first visited KidsPlay at 13 months old, and as both he and the Museum have grown, his favorite exhibits and activities have shifted many times. One thing has never changed, though: KidsPlay is important to Rhys and his family.
They are not the only ones that feel that way. From visitor feedback like this to conversations with community partners, one thing is clear: the Northwest Corner needs KidsPlay.
Some major highlights from this exciting year include:
- Record Visitation: The Museum is on track to welcome nearly 55,000 visitors in 2023.
- Growth: The renovation of 57 Main Street is well underway and reaching a finishing phase. The new exhibit gallery will soon be open for playful learning and fun.
- New Initiatives: KidsPlay has been awarded a prestigious Museums for America grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for the Hub@KidsPlay Initiative.
From the beginning, KidsPlay’s staff and board have worked to build a financially sustainable museum that fosters imagination and creativity through the power of play. Unfortunately, the income generated from visitation provides less than half of the funds needed to run the Museum. KidsPlay must rely on a combination of this earned income and other funding sources. To bridge the financial gap, KidsPlay needs contributions from donors like you.
