Physics in Motion: Fun Physics Learning at KidsPlay!

You may not realize it, but your little one is actually learning about physics all the time!

What is physics?

Physics is the study of matter and its motion through space and time. With powerful imaginations and curious minds, physicists investigate challenging questions about things like the nature of light, the force of gravity, and time. Is there a little physicist in your family?

This isn’t to say that your toddler should be calculating the acceleration of their bouncy ball by age three. Nevertheless, as your child moves and plays, they are learning experientially about the properties of physical objects. Everything from throwing a ball to watching sugar dissolve in water is observed and analyzed by your child’s amazing, developing brain.

At KidsPlay, learning about physics is a hands-on adventure that sparks curiosity and creativity! Our physics-themed exhibits invite children to explore fundamental principles of motion, force, and air pressure in ways that are fun and engaging.

KidsPlay Raceway

The KidsPlay Raceway lets little racers zoom around on Plasma Cars, experiencing firsthand how their movements propel the cars. As they race, they learn about force, friction, and the joy of motion!

Air Tubes

In the Air Tubes exhibit, kids send scarves and balls flying through a maze of clear tubes using air pressure. Watching their objects zip through the system shows children how air can act as a powerful force of motion.

Bernoulli Box

At the Bernoulli Box, kids use blowing air to keep a ball suspended in mid-air, learning about the Bernoulli principle, which helps explain how planes fly. They can experiment by turning vents on and off, seeing the immediate effect of airflow on the floating ball.

Balls and Ramps

Balls and Ramps challenges kids to build their own tracks with tubing on a magnetic wall. As they send balls speeding through the tracks they’ve designed, they can see how gravity and angles affect the motion of the ball, learning by doing.

Each of these exhibits invites children to experience scientific concepts in playful ways, blending learning and fun in an unforgettable experience!
