Did you hear construction noises coming from the basement? Or did you see a guy running around with a toolbox in his hand? Chances are, that was Karl. Karl recently started at KidsPlay as the Facilities and Exhibits Manager after working at another museum for a few years. He has a background in sculpture and fixing things and has wanted to work in a museum setting since he was five years old!
The new energy exhibit pieces! They’ve got really interesting motion and mechanisms that will hopefully inspire the next generation of builders, engineers, and kinetic artists.
Why do you love KidsPlay?
I love the diversity of what can be experienced here! Where else can you climb in a tree house, paint on the walls, run a diner, learn about physics, and visit the inside of a real bank vault, other than KidsPlay?
What do you do for your own purposeful play?
My “purposeful play-time” is generally spent at home with my family; Mary, my fiance, Maizie, our dog, and Barley, our cat. When we’re not out adventuring together, I like to spend time enhancing my garden railroad, building models and toys, and riding my large-scale model trains.
