Simply Science - Cloud Edition

Each time you and your child venture outside, take a few moments to look up. Are there clouds in the sky? What do you notice about them? Are they dark and stormy? Maybe they are wispy and thin. They might be puffy and plump! Do you see any shapes that you recognize? It's fun to try to help someone else see the same shapes that you do!

If you find that you and your child enjoy looking at clouds, consider becoming a Citizen Scientist and share your cloud observations. Search for Citizen Scientist: Cloud Observations for more information.

Ask your child to think about the answers to these questions while completing the Simply Science Journal:

  • Why do clouds have different shapes?
  • What makes the clouds move across the sky?
  • How many different kinds of clouds can you find?
  • How long do clouds last?
