Maker Challenge of the Week

Maker Challenge of the Week

Maker Challenge #6

You might think that LEGO bricks are simple construction toys which children play with for hours and often leave painfully underfoot. But did you know that when your child builds with LEGOs, s/he is also improving fine motor skills, using imagination, building social skills, practicing math skills, and developing planning skills, among others. Those are awesome benefits for a simple construction toy!

Children love to come play with the LEGOs in the Maker Space at KidsPlay, and Deb and I are continually amazed at the designs our visitors create, with no instructions to follow at all! For this week's Maker Challenge, Patty and I would like your child to create something with LEGOs or other construction toys. It could be something your child created by following the instructions in a kit or something that is completely original.

LEGOs are so open-ended that we know we will be amazed and impressed with unique and interesting constructions at our Show & Tell on Wednesday, June 24 at 3:30 pm.
