Give Local Day 2!

April 21, 2021 | 12:01 am - 7:00 pm

Give Local’s 36-hour giving event continues to 7 pm today!

Every dollar that you give counts. Not only is your gift stretched further by additional funds provided by the Connecticut Community Foundation and their generous sponsors, but your gift can also help us win prizes!

Please consider donating today between 12 pm and 3 pm to multiply your impact. We are competing for the “Dollars for Litchfield County” prize. Sponsored by FM 97.3 WZBG, the Litchfield County organization that has the most unique donors during that time period will win a $1,000 prize.

About our Appeal:

Safe and enriching learning spaces are critical to combat the social isolation and disrupted education associated with the COVID-19 Pandemic. KidsPlay is a safe, neutral place where families can connect and learn through play.

KidsPlay’s interactive exhibits create wonder and delight for children ages 1 to 10 and their caregivers. Through hands-on play, children learn about real-world activities, practice life skills, and build curiosity. KidsPlay provides an environment where children can feel a sense of normalcy, build confidence to increase resiliency, and explore learning concepts in a safe and supportive environment.

This year we are appealing to you to raise funds for our new initiative, A Museum for the Community. Our goal is to ensure that all families are welcomed and feel a sense of belonging.

A Museum for the Community encompasses three programs designed to increase accessibility for low-income families:

Museums for All – This nationally acclaimed program enables families with a current Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) EBT card to visit KidsPlay for a nominal $2 per person fee. Families from all backgrounds are enabled to visit the Museum regularly and build lifelong museum habits.

Access Membership – This is a new program at KidsPlay. Access Membership is designed to reach families with a demonstrated need that local social service agencies have not identified. Using the Museums for All model, low-income families qualify for subsidized six or twelve-month memberships at a substantially reduced price.

Community Membership – KidsPlay originally launched this program in 2014 as the Angel Membership Program. Families referred by social service agencies are granted fully subsidized six-month memberships. Families are referred for the Community Membership program due to poverty, language barriers, insufficient education in the household, or other circumstances.

These programs together will make the Museum more accessible to families struggling with financial instability. With each dollar you donate, you are providing brain-building and stress-reducing opportunities for children and their caregivers.

Thank you so much for your help! We are truly grateful.
