Family Friday – Picturing Peace
This very special Family Friday focuses on our theme of peace.
The Picturing Peace Arts Project features peace-themed artwork by area students on display until January 31, 2020. Join us for an evening of peace-themed activities with your family and meet The Picturing Peace Arts Project founders Drs. Robert and Jill Beck.
Picturing Peace is an arts program that has been conducted in 21 elementary school classrooms in the U.S. and Northern Ireland. The goal is the development of peace-loving students and emerging peace-building citizens.
Picturing Peace has now happily arrived at KidsPlay.
Come and create your own peaceful photographs with your family.
Choose from a variety of activities to cultivate a peaceful mindset with your family and community!
5:00 – 7:00 pm Picturing Peace Arts Project
Create a peaceful postcard and contribute to the Picturing Peace project by:
touring the photo exhibit with the project’s founders.
learning peace synonyms.
discovering a variety of image genres.
composing and capturing your concept of peace using the Museum’s exhibits and your imagination!
5:00 – 8:00 pm Maker Space Peace Art
Maker Space will feature special peace inspired creations.
7 – 7:30 pm Drumming for Peace
Drumming for Peace is Bringing People Together as a Community!
Drummer Angaza Mwando grew up in Baltimore. His career spans photography, corrections work, life coaching, mentoring young men across cultures, and ministry work. He is also a lifelong student of African-American history and drumming.
7:30 – 8:00 pm Peace Story Time
We will conclude our Family Friday – Picturing Peace with a Story Time with Patty and special guest reader, Effie Mwando.
